Tuxedo and Suit Rental for Weddings: Your Questions Answered

If you're planning a Wisconsin wedding, chances are someone in your household is thinking about what the guys are going to wear, and chances are, you've got questions. At Sandra D's Bridal Boutique in Watertown, we've been helping Wisconsin couples pull together the full wedding look since 1989. And for 37 years, we've heard just about every tuxedo and suit rental question you can imagine.

So let's just answer them all right here.

How Do I Get Started With a Tuxedo or Suit Rental?

You can fill out the contact form on our website, call the store directly, or shoot us a message on social media to set up an appointment. When you reach out, just let us know the date and time that works for you and your wedding date. We'll take it from there.

We do require appointments, so please plan ahead!

How Far in Advance Should We Book?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer is: sooner than you think.

We recommend selecting your tuxedo or suit styles at least 4 to 6 months before your wedding. Then, about 2 to 3 months out, you bring the bridal party in to get professionally measured.

Why the two-step approach? Because style selection and measurements are two different things. You want the look locked in before so the measurement process is quick and efficient.

That said, we know life doesn't always go according to plan. If you're working with a tighter timeline, call us. We'll do our best to make it work.

How Much Does a Tuxedo or Suit Rental Cost?

Here's the number everyone wants to know: complete tuxedo or suit rentals are $228.

And here's the part grooms especially love: the groom's tuxedo is free with six paid complete rentals. So if you've got a full wedding party renting with us, the groom is taken care of.

No hidden fees, no guessing. That's the price.

If you are not renting a complete look, there are different prices depending on what you are looking for. Don’t hesitate to reach out or ask those questions at your appointment.

What If Some of My Groomsmen Don't Live Near Watertown?

This question comes up all the time. You've got friends or family scattered across the state or the country. Here's the good news: they don't have to come to us to get measured.

Sizing is universal, so your out-of-town groomsmen can get professionally measured anywhere. We recommend going to a formalwear store to complete these measurements. Once they have their measurements, they just call us with the numbers and we handle the rest.

No one has to drive to Watertown from Minneapolis just to get a chest measurement. We've got you covered!

What Does the Pickup and Return Process Look Like?

Your tuxedo or suit will arrive two to three days before the wedding. When it comes in, we encourage you to come into the boutique and try everything on to confirm the fit is right before the big day, you don't want any surprises the morning of.

After the wedding, rentals need to be returned by the following Monday by 5 p.m. If items come back after that, late fees will apply. Write that Monday deadline on your calendar now so it doesn't sneak up on you in the post-wedding blur. We also like to note, it does not matter who returns your tuxedo or suit. If you or someone from the wedding party would like to return them all, that works for us!

Should We Choose a Tuxedo or a Suit?

This is more of a style question than a process question, and it's one we love helping couples think through in person. The short version: tuxedos are traditionally more formal (think black tie, evening weddings, classic elegance), while suits offer more flexibility for daytime, outdoor, and contemporary wedding styles.

When you come in for your appointment, we'll talk through your venue, your vibe, and what the bride is wearing, and we'll help you land on the right look. That's what we're here for.

Can We Coordinate the Guys' Look With the Bridal Party?

Absolutely and this is one of the real advantages of working with a full-service boutique like Sandra D's. We carry bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride gowns, and formalwear all under one roof. That means we can help you pull together a cohesive color story across the whole wedding party without anyone having to run to three different stores.

It makes the planning easier and the photos look amazing.

Why Rent With Sandra D's Instead of a Chain Store?

We'll be straight with you, there are big-box formalwear chains out there. However, here's what you get at Sandra D's that you won't get there, someone who actually knows your wedding.

We've been doing this in Watertown since 1989. This community is not a market to us, it's home. We treat every wedding like it matters, because it does.
